I made this acrylic painting using several of my photographs from three years ago at Santa Barbara's annual Fiesta festival - probably the greatest equestrian festival in the country! This year's festival was equally amazing, will be sharing some pictures from it soon.
In some way, this painting is a result of having my 8-year old niece, Maddy, visiting with us this summer. She loves horses and inspired me to do some work with them. I taught her hiking and we also went on a lot of walks (she had the longest walks of her life so far and her first hikes ever). During our walks we stopped to pet some of the horses and also fed my next door neighbor's horses Antic and Splash. She was totally taken by them.
Fiesta horse is a way to celebrate the good times we had over the summer (that's what a fiesta is all about, after all).
