In a recent interview about my new kids' book Grey Ghost Mischief: Grub a la Grande, which aims to help in building healthy eating habits at an early age, the topic about nutritional guidelines came up.
What I have noticed is that most countries have their own with similarities and differences from ours (USA). Most of them recommend that you eat more or less of the food groups we're all familiar with: proteins, fruits, vegetables, and grains. Some include dairy and some do not. These guidelines are backed by research and then established by authorities in those countries.
Below are some examples, with links in case you're curious to learn more. At the end of the day, what you choose to eat is your choice and no one else's. However, I found it helpful to see what the different public health messages are across the world when it comes to eating healthy and proper nutrition.
