Three Things I learned from author-illustrator Mirelle Ortega

I had the pleasure to interview author-illustrator Mirelle Ortega in Bilingual Book Buddies podcast & webcast.  She's full of energy and positivity, I felt like I met un alma gemela. :-)

But without further ado, here are 3 things she said that I wrote in my notes during our interview, because they resonated with me and also I truly believe can help anyone in picture books and other endeavors:

#1 "Be open to things and prepare for them."  i.e. honing your craft.  Practice!

#2  "Keep trying!"  Again, this is the old saying, practice makes perfect.  It's true and tried.

#3  "It’s a good thing to be bilingual today."  In spite of everything that's going on, bilingualism is useful today more than ever!  Just this weekend, while I was at the Scottsdale Book Fair, being bilingual came in handy for me and I was able to help a person in need.

I hope you can make good use of these 3 simple tips in whatever you're pursuing.

Of course, Mirelle said MANY more things and shared useful information.  To watch the full episode go to our YouTube channel at:
